Built by someone who’s been on both sides of the deal
Simple execution. Real growth. No theater.
Vantage is led by Daniel Thor — twenty years in foodservice, most of them at Bellissimo Foods.
Vantage is intentionally small. No team to feed, no overhead to justify, no quota that overrides judgment. When a manufacturer hires Vantage, they get Dan — not an account executive whose name they'll forget in six months.
“The story” Section
Dan spent the better part of two decades at Bellissimo Foods, a NorCal-based Italian foodservice group operating in a co-op-style structure with deep relationships across both the manufacturer base it sourced from and the distributor and operator network it sold into. He started in marketing, moved through operations, and eventually became President. Along the way he built primary relationships with the manufacturers, distributors, and operators that define the western US Italian and pizza category — and learned, from the buyer's seat, what a good brokerage relationship looks like and what a bad one costs.
Vantage was built to be the firm Dan wished existed when he was the buyer.
What that means in practice
For manufacturers: A representative who understands your P&L, your cost-to-serve, and the operational tradeoffs that govern every decision you make — because Vantage has been the buyer on the other end of those decisions. Not someone who treats your brand as one of forty in a binder.
For distributors and operators: A category resource you can actually use — supplier evaluation, line reviews, category strategy, the occasional honest opinion. Vantage represents brands, but Vantage also represents the long view of the relationship.
For consulting clients: Direct, supply-chain-grade advice from someone who has lived inside the broker-distributor-manufacturer triangle. Most engagements involve helping a manufacturer transition from a national brokerage structure to a regional one, or rebuild a broker network that isn't producing. Engagements are scoped tightly, billed monthly, and ended when the work is done — not extended for the retainer.
