What we advice on

Vantage consulting engagements to solve issues with experience, time and precision.

Broker network design and transitions. Helping manufacturers move from a national brokerage relationship to a regional broker network, or rebuild an underperforming one. Includes broker evaluation, contract structure, transition sequencing, and onboarding.

Vendor Program Negotiations. Foodservice supplier program negotiations for additional revenue streams, build for restauranteurs, distributors, chains, etc.

Channel strategy and go-to-market. Foodservice channel positioning, distributor strategy, category prioritization, and route-to-market design for emerging and mid-stage food brands.

Marketing & branding strategies. Build a brand that can be trusted in the market. Whether thats re-branding, brand creation, marketing campaigns or anything in between.

Operational and commercial review. Pricing structure, cost-to-serve analysis, broker compensation design, and category competitiveness assessment.

Vantage consulting is built around two principles: scoped engagements and operator-grade depth.

Scoping. Every engagement starts with a discovery conversation and a written scope. Most projects fall into a defined phase structure with clear deliverables. No open-ended retainers, no engagements that grow because nobody wants to end them.

Billing. Hourly billing, invoiced monthly in arrears. Engagements are typically 20–80 hours across 2–4 months, depending on complexity.

Engagement closure. When the work is done, the engagement ends. Vantage doesn't manufacture follow-on phases to keep the meter running. If something legitimate comes up later, the door is open.

How engagements are structured

A live example

Vantage is currently engaged with Pedone Pinsa, a Roman-style pinsa manufacturer, on transitioning their West Coast representation from a national brokerage model to a regional broker network. The engagement includes broker evaluation, transition sequencing, reporting infrastructure, and onboarding support across multiple regional partners.

This is a typical Vantage consulting engagement — scoped, tactical, operator-led, and grounded in real category and distributor knowledge rather than slide-deck strategy.

Consulting engagements tend to start in one of three moments:

  • Your national brokerage isn't producing. You see line-item commissions going out but no account activity coming back. Time to evaluate whether the structure or the partner is the problem.

  • You're entering a new region and don't have the relationships. Particularly the West Coast, where distributor consolidation and regional chain dynamics make a national-rep model less effective than it used to be.

  • You're building or rebuilding your broker network from scratch. And you'd rather have an operator who's lived inside that network advise on it than an agency that hasn't.

When to call

Start the conversation

The first conversation is a no-cost discovery call. If the engagement is a fit, Vantage will follow up with a written scope and timeline. If it isn't, you'll get an honest read on what kind of partner would be.
